Top industrial air compressor manufacturers include Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand, KAESER, Hitachi Global Air Power, ELGi, BOGE, Kaishan, KOBELCO, Fusheng and Mattei. Their ranges cover rotary screw, centrifugal, reciprocating and rotary vane technologies.
This guide focuses on factory compressed air. Companies are selected for verified industrial products, with alphabetical ordering rather than a performance ranking. For equipment builders comparing air compressor brands, product range is the starting point; cooling configuration and supply scope also matter.
Top Industrial Air Compressor Manufacturers to Know
Atlas Copco
Atlas Copco supplies oil-injected and oil-free industrial air compressors. Its ZR/ZT oil-free screw range illustrates an important distinction: ZR is water-cooled, while ZT is air-cooled. Even within one manufacturer, cooling infrastructure must be checked against the selected series. www.atlascopco.com
BOGE
BOGE manufactures oil-injected and oil-free screw compressors. Its E series includes compact air-cooled machines, while SO series products address oil-free industrial air requirements. Compare the named series and its technical data rather than treating the entire brand as one specification. www.boge.com
ELGi
ELGi offers lubricated and oil-free screw compressors. Its OF range uses two-stage compression with intercooling and aftercooling, with air-cooled and water-cooled options. For oil-free air compressor projects, the cooling arrangement remains a core part of package selection. www.elgi.com
Fusheng
Fusheng supplies industrial screw and reciprocating air compressors. Its two-stage oil-injected screw design describes cooling first-stage air with oil before the second stage. This is a useful reminder that “two-stage” alone does not specify a separate intercooler construction. tw.fusheng.com
Hitachi Global Air Power / Sullair
Hitachi Global Air Power supplies industrial compressed-air equipment under brands including Sullair and Hitachi. Its offering includes oil-flooded, oil-free and portable compressors. Treat these product families separately when checking stationary plant requirements, and distinguish the Sullair brand from its corporate identity. europe.sullair.com
Ingersoll Rand
Ingersoll Rand’s industrial portfolio includes centrifugal air compressors. The MSG TURBO-AIR 2000 has a built-in aftercooler and removable, water-in-tube intercooler and aftercooler bundles. This provides a concrete example of cooling equipment integrated into the compressor package. www.ingersollrand.com
KAESER
KAESER manufactures oil-injected and oil-free rotary screw compressors. Its rotary screw machines include built-in aftercoolers, and the company also offers separate air-cooled and water-cooled aftercoolers. Package cooling and additional downstream cooling should therefore be distinguished when defining supply scope. www.kaeser.com
Kaishan
Kaishan’s industrial rotary screw range includes single-stage KRSP and two-stage KRSP2 compressors, with fixed-speed and variable-speed options. Compare model-level airflow, operating pressure and load requirements before deciding which series belongs on an industrial air compressor supplier shortlist. kaishanusa.com
KOBELCO COMPRESSORS
KOBELCO offers oil-injected and oil-free industrial air compressors, including its Emeraude oil-free range. Buyers can compare these categories for plant-air projects, then request the specific model’s cooling and installation data. Oil-free compression does not remove the need to manage heat. www.kobelco.co.jp
Mattei
Mattei adds rotary vane technology to this manufacturer list. Its AC 110–132 series uses separate aluminium radiators for oil and compressed-air cooling, and offers a water-cooled version. This makes it a useful comparison beyond the usual rotary screw air compressor manufacturers. www.matteigroup.com
What Compressor Selection Means for Cooling
A brand name cannot define a compressor heat exchanger. Start with the cooling duty: interstage air cooling, compressed-air aftercooling or lubricating-oil cooling. Each circuit requires its own operating data.
For water-cooled packages, shell and tube heat exchangers may be considered against pressure, water quality, material and cleaning requirements. For oil or liquid circuits rejecting heat to ambient air, air-cooled heat exchangers require a suitable airflow and installation layout.
Before comparing cooler proposals, confirm heat load, fluid flow, inlet and target outlet temperatures, operating pressure, allowable pressure drop and available space. Motor power alone is insufficient to specify an intercooler, compressed-air aftercooler or compressor oil cooler.
For OEMs and package integrators, our compressor and blower heat exchanger applications connect these requirements to project-based cooling equipment.
Discuss Your Compressor Heat Exchanger Project with JED
JED manufactures custom heat exchangers for compressor manufacturers and package integrators. We review the required cooling duty, materials, connections, mounting dimensions and inspection scope before production.
For a new package or repeat order, send the available drawing or datasheet, operating conditions, target quantity and required delivery schedule. We can review manufacturing requirements, pressure and leakage testing, and agreed documentation.
Send your drawing or cooling requirements to JED to discuss a custom compressor heat exchanger quotation.
FAQs
Can I buy an industrial air compressor directly from the manufacturer?
Ask the manufacturer which sales channel serves your country and project. Confirm who issues the quotation and provides commissioning, warranty support and spare parts.
Are dryers and air receivers included in a compressor quotation?
Check the itemised scope. An integrated dryer may be an option, while receivers, filters, drains and installation work may require separate pricing.
Can a discontinued compressor cooler be replaced without replacing the machine?
A replacement may be possible after checking thermal duty, pressure, materials and installation interfaces. JED can review existing drawings, nameplate information, photographs and dimensions.
Will a third-party cooler affect the compressor warranty?
Check the applicable equipment warranty and obtain written clarification before making changes. Confirm the proposed cooler’s operating limits and any approval required from the equipment supplier.
